Submachine
I love point and click puzzles. The Submachine is a great series. Start out on the first and learn how the author thinks, then work your way up. Submachine 4 is definitely tricky. Walkthroughs are available online if you get stuck.

Submachine
Submachine 2: The Lighthouse
Submachine 3: The Loop
Submachine 4: The Lab

Well, I gave it a quick try and didn't get too far. I remember enjoying Myst, but it was largely because of the unusually nice graphics; this doesn't seem to me to quite measure up. Still, I may give it another go. Never say never.

This game is very "MYST" like. The graphics get better after the first "trial." Not quite the same quality, but the sound is nice. Keep trying and you WILL be addicted.

By the way, I played all these games again through to the end before I posted because I like them so much. If you don't want to resort to the answer guide then maybe we can all post tips here. tip #1 e=mc^2

OK, if I try this, how much time will get sucked away from me since we've already decided it's addicting...

I am so lame at this! I have managed to get only the bottom two pieces of the puzzle. I have no idea what to do with the spoon or the diary, and even though I have the "valve" attached to the plumbing thing, I have no idea how to make it "do" anything. How do I stop that damn leak??? Help!

Never mind - did the "walkthrough" and got to the end easily. Still, there just seems to be a lot of guesswork involved. Annoying! Now I'm stuck in the lighthouse. Found the "cogwheel" but have no idea what to do with it. Grrrrr.

You are not lame. I could have not done it without the walkthroughs either, but only a as a last resort. I think the cogwheel is used in the lighthouse in the sewer pipe maze somewhere. This puzzle is actually very logical compared to a lot of the point and click puzzles out there I have experienced.

A heads up tip, the hardest part about the last in the series is the "numbers" you are given to teleport between areas.

PS I think you will like "the loop" if you get to it. Very enjoyable with no walkthrough needed if up to the challenge.
